The Tradition Begins Here! - Recreational Softball

The Recreational Softball program at Keller Youth Association (KYA) has become widely recognized as one of the best and most complete all-around programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The KYA Recreational Softball program has been built upon the following guiding principles:

  • To help our youth develop into better adults through participation in organized sports.
  • To foster an atmosphere focused on FUN, sportsmanship, teamwork, trust and fundamentals.
  • To guide and assist our participants to gain the necessary skills, confidence and discipline to become positive, healthy citizens and role models of the future.

KYA Recreational Softball Program

The KYA Recreational Softball Program is designed to attract as many players in the community, who have a sincere interest in the game, as possible. In our younger leagues we attempt to include every single player who registers to play. Our goal is to give the youngest players in our program an opportunity to gain a fondness for and an interest in the game. We also strive to give them every chance to learn the basic skills the game requires.

As our recreational players advance in age, we still provide an "all inclusive" approach to participation. The privilege of increased participation is earned through attainment of performance levels by conscientious attendance at games and practice sessions, as well as general conduct and development on the playing field.

KYA Softball currently offers two seasonal programs each year:

  • Spring Season (March to June) - Registration generally opens in December.
  • Fall Season (September to November) - Registration generally opens in July.
Recreational Levels of Play Age as of January 1, 2020
6U - Combination Coach Pitch/T-Ball (5 and 6 Years Old)
8U - Combination Kid Pitch/Coach Pitch (7 and 8 Years Old)
10U - Kid Fast Pitch (9 and 10 Years Old)
12U - Kid Fast Pitch (11 and 12 Years Old)
15U - Kid Fast Pitch (13, 14 and 15 Years Old)

We Background Check ALL Coaches & KYA Board Members:

We require all KYA coaches and board members to go through a background check process. Please view our list of items that will disqualify an individual from coaching a KYA team or joining our board.

Does my daughter have to try out for a team?

No, all girls will be put on a team.  We do have a "Coaches Look" and girls can participate to show off their skills, but they are not required to attend, they will be placed on a team either way. (Dates for C.L. will be posted and emailed after registration ends.)

When are games and practices?

KYA does not have set days for practices and or games.  The practice days are for each coach to determine for their team.  No games will be scheduled on Wednesdays or Sundays.

Can I request my daughter to be on the same team as a friend?

KYA does NOT guarantee that friends will be placed on the same team.  We can not rearrange teams based on friends who would like to play together or because of carpool arrangements.  We only honor requests from families who would like their daughters (whom are sisters) to be on the same team, if it is age appropriate.

What equipment does my daughter need to play softball?

Rubber soled cleats, a softball bat, a glove, a batting helmet WITH a facemask on the front, and if your daughter is a pitcher she has to wear a face mask while pitching for KYA. 8U players are required to wear a facemask while playing infield.

What is the cost for a season and what does it include?

6U -  City of Keller Residents- $70 (zip codes 76248 and 76262 only)

What do I need to do if I am interested in coaching a team for KYA?
